Jessie’s Poetry

Biking Mt. McKinley

My face feels icy and
I’m beginning to get cold.
The white mat around me
stretches up to reach
a beautiful gray blue sky.
It looks calm but the wind
whips hard and constant,
battling my willpower.
I focus on the sound of my tires
crunching through the crispy snow.
Onward, upward.
I keep pedaling and finally,
make it to the top.
I am very exhausted
and extremely proud.

Let Me Be an Inspiration

Remember me for being a good athlete,
who worked hard to win those medals
for Special Olympics.
Remember how hard I worked
to achieve my goals and
know that you can do the same.
I want to inspire people.
I want to become a swim coach
to motivate others to do their best.

My Cat Jethro

I am thankful for my cat Jethro.
So much love between us.
Following me wherever I go,
he has the personality of a dog.
Fluffy, friendly Maine coon
who looks like a big raccoon.
He likes to chew my Dad’s shoelaces.
I love his loud purr.
We talk to each other.
I am so glad Jethro is ours.
