Lisa’s Bio

Lisa has been a student at Noorthoek Academy for 22.5 years. She enjoys being a lifelong learner. In fact, she gave herself the title, “World’s Most Awesome Student.” Lisa loves to read and her favorite book is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. She volunteers with a local agency to combat hunger. Lisa is an animal lover and hopes to be able to adopt a pet someday. She is proud of her family and that she is an amazing aunt. Something unique about Lisa is her beautiful red hair. Lisa received an honorary degree from Grand Rapids Community College in 2023.

Blue Stillness

I see before my eyes
blue skies over a blueberry field.
A still blue lake with blue bell flowers
growing along the shore.
Sounds of birds flying overhead
reach my inner ear.
Squirrels noisily searching for nuts.
The gentle sounds of waves kiss the beach.
Somewhere,
a blueberry pie is baking.

Animal Whisperer

Stray pets panicked,
lost and homeless.
I feel their terror and
gently talk to them,
calming their fears.
Letting them know
they are safe now.

Walking My Imaginary Dog

I walk my imaginary dog
around my mom and dad’s
beguiling neighborhood.
His name is Gnome.
I have trained him
to stay away from other dogs.
Nobody notices Gnome,
but me.
I keep my dog close,
and everyone else six feet away
